The old shelves where the components were crammed together have made a grand exit from TEF. They served their purpose for many years, but they were no longer useful. We needed to incorporate intelligent systems that would modernise our central warehouse, providing us with security, flexibility, speed and accuracy in the selection and collection of components.
A few weeks ago, we launched two smart cabinets, the Shuttle XP 500 from Kardex Remstar. These are vertical lifting systems with a height of 10 metres, designed for storing and retrieving small-volume goods.
Smart wardrobes offer us some very significant advantages:
- Everything is controlled, computerised and stored in the designated location for each item.
- They contribute to optimising preparation times and efficient, rapid storage (for example, we can save a recurring job order and each time it is executed, the system will present the same order without having to re-enter all the data).
- They provide a significant increase in storage capacity (up to 60% more), as they make full use of the available space.
- They offer the possibility of taking inventory on the spot.
- They provide greater accuracy in picking.
- They provide high execution cycle speed thanks to rapid access to all stored components.
The items stored in these cabinets are also kept in optimal environmental conditions, as the systems are airtight and feature temperature and climate control.
